I bought the coupe on the 23rd July 1978
shortly after my first tin hunt with what was the Street Limited Rods
& Customs Club. The car was found in
a rubbish tip on a farm near West Wyalong (New South Wales). I paid
the princely some of $15 for a burnt out shell of a car, covered in
surface rust with no floor whatsoever. A hunt for a better cowl, front
guards, running-boards, bonnet and chassis covered a fair part of the State.
Most of the mechanicals were stripped from my cousins HK sedan and the project
was under way. An extra burst of enthusiasm to get the coupe registered
for its 50th anniversary saw rego at first attempt late in 1986.
