Importing a Hot
Rod:
There is more vintage tin overseas (particularly in the US) than there
is here. Importing a car can be the answer to your Hot Rodding Dream, but
there are many pitfalls. This page will help CHRA members and other
interested Rodders with the correct procedures based on
experience.
Go Australiatrade.com.au/Shipping/Import/Vehicles/Permits
first. You need an application form which can be downloaded HERE.
Full Rego (A.C.T):
As of April 2004, the A.C.T has adopted the NATIONAL
GUIDELINES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND MODIFICATION OF STREET RODS IN
AUSTRALIA. This means that in A.C.T you can obtain full street
rego (there is no limited scheme currently available), however you must
adhear to these guidelines. You should (well, really MUST) contact the ACT TAC for more info
BEFORE you are either deciding to built your new Rod or buying a
Hot Rod from interstate. Just because a Hot Rod was under full rego in
another state it does not mean that it will be able to be on full rego in
the A.C.T (trust me, I know from 1st hand experience!). The two most
important things to do is to contact the ACT TAC and don't let
the Hot Rod run out of it's current rego! For more info on buying
a Rod from interstate abs some of the things do do, click HERE
