Vicki's Vicki. Recently purchased while on a visit to the US, this 1956
Ford Crown Victoria was the property of Fred from Dark Horse Performance
in Renton, Wa. It now belongs to Vicki Munday. It came with a 73 Gran Torino
front clip, nine inch nodular iron diff narrowed 14 inches with detroit
locker and 31 spline axles, centre lines, tele tilt, padded (original)
dash, electric buckets from a 63 Thunderbird and other stuff. |
 |
It was an old time street racer with a solid front axle and 4.11 gears.
It was painted black with flames and had a 427 side oiler Ford in
it. |
 |
GT helped out with the car trailer and 4wd ute to pick the Vicki up from
Junkyard Classics, who imported the car for us. |
 |
The chassis was not going to be any good for street use, so Vicki bought
this registered Mainline ute with 302W, disc brakes and 8" diff.
Everything we needed. |
 |
The Mainline chassis is the same as the Vicki. We swapped bodies as part
of a CHRA garage scene. |
 |
The Mainline ute went on the ex-Vicki dragster chassis. It was sold on
eBay for a good price. |
 |
Danny Fort (Resort Trailers, Queanbeyan) was "recruited" to
manufacture a new floor and tubs, including a recess for the fuel tank. |
 |
An excellent job, then Vicki decided we were going LPG. Not to
worry, the recess will fit a suitcase or tool kit. The LPG bottle fits
nicely up under the parcel shelf in wasted space. |
 |
Steering is from a EA Falcon ute. Power steering box almost bolts on to
the original mounting point. Drag link, idler arm and connecting rods are
a bolt in. One steering arm needs to be shorted a bit. Dash is from a 56
Cusso, steering column and brakes are from the same EA ute. |
